A polished report still creates work when Finance cannot trace the definitions, sources, assumptions, and calculations behind it. I wrote this guide following The CFO Alliance’s Nashville roundtable on September 9.
Make the work reviewable
The guide sets out four expectations for submissions to Finance: context, result, support, and checks and review. It includes a reusable prompt and worked examples so teams can apply the standard in their company-approved AI tool.
Be precise about the value
Released capacity, avoided cost, and cash savings are different claims. The guide explains that distinction and shows how to flag information that could not be verified.
The prompt is an interim aid. Its effect on rework has not yet been measured. Use it on one recurring report and track the questions, corrections, and time spent on both sides.
Developed from the Nashville roundtable discussion, with thanks to its participants and The CFO Alliance.
